SERIES: Our God
Our God: The Angry God?

Why is God mad? There is no denying that there are passages in the Bible where God is portrayed as being mad. He is angry. For some, this is an irreconcilable dichotomy in the character of God validating the skepticism that such a deity even exists. For others, this lights a fire to warn people against the devastating judgment that is to come, by any means possible, to rescue people out of hell. What makes God angry? Is that just an "Old Testament" version of God, but now God is more gracious and forgiving? The images of God's anger are real and accurate. So also are His eternal qualities of mercy, grace and forgiveness (they aren't new things!). There is reason to be thankful for God's anger. (And it's not vengeance!)
