Happy Canada Day

There are a lot of issues distracting us.  COVID-19 is the obvious big one with lots of fallout.  The tentacles reach much farther than we anticipated.

But thankfully, we live in Canada.  God has blessed our country with rich resources allowing us to ride out this storm without the level of crisis we see in so many other parts of the world.  God is gracious to us.

I haven't been able to confirm this from a reliable historical source (if you know one, please let me know) but apparently the Fathers of Confederation adopted this verse as the "official" Bible text for Canada:

He shall have dominion also from sea to sea,
and from the river unto the ends of the earth.
(Psa 72:8 KJV)

While I can't confirm the historicity of this claim, I am encouraged to remember that God DOES have dominion - not just from sea to sea, but over all the earth and all it contains (Psa. 24:1).  That includes COVID-19 and its ugly tentacles.

Happy Canada Day, eh!  It's too hot to wear a toque, but you can sit on the chesterfield, enjoy a double-double, snack on some Smarties, hug a (maple) tree, and play some lacrosse.

Thanks, God, for entrusting us with an incredibly beautiful, resource rich, people diverse, open country where we can worship and share our faith without fear.  May be wisely steward these gifts He has given us.
